It
has been a productive summer here. We kept busy with recruiting,
compensation, and hr reviews for a very diverse group - a growing
software company, an office supply company, a busy medical office, a
large medical device company, a foundation, and three social service
agencies. It has been great fun! In addition, Holly presented at the
annual SHRM Conference in Las Vegas.

HMK In Vegas
There
were 22,000 attendees at the SHRM conference this year; not quite all of
them made it to Holly's presentation on "Introvert/Extrovert: How
Much Space is Too Much Space?" (hey - it was 7 am on a Monday!) but
there was a respectable turnout. Let us know if you have a local
audience who'd like to hear about this topic. We learned quite a bit at
the conference and are looking forward to sharing it with you as the year
progresses.

In
addition to keeping our clients happy, we got some great advice from our
Powerlink panel, who helped us create our new mission statement: "To
enable executives of growing organizations to recruit and retain top
talent through strategically customized hr services."

Our Clients Say it Best
We
had the pleasure of working again with Vocollect recently; we first
worked with Vocollect when they were just getting started. Since 1987,
Vocollect Voice® has delivered proven performance improvements in
productivity, accuracy, cost reduction and job satisfaction for mobile
employees, achieving rapid ROI for businesses worldwide. To keep pace
with rapid global growth, Vocollect needed some short-term help with
screening and hiring key technical employees. HMK was able to provide
onsite recruiting assistance, hiring 40 people from January through May.
Here's what Michelle Seibert, HR Director at Vocollect, has to say about
the services:
"HMK
Associates provided timely, focused recruiting assistance to supplement
our HR team's work, interacting effectively with candidates, outside
parties and our management team to fill positions quickly and
efficiently. They were professional and effective recruiters."

For
those of you who like to write, here is a good tip from the teachers at
the Iowa Summer Writers Festival, which Holly attended this year:
"You
can never rescue bad writing by explaining the intention you had when you
wrote it. It's like explaining a joke. It never works."
